Yes, it is a typo in the homework. Thanks to you, Bernard Ebinu, and

The correct typing should be:

Bernard, any digital design book will have an explanation on the use
of "don't cares" on minimization (p.e. Wakerly, Roth, and Mano), just
look in the book index either for "don't care terms" or for "incompletely
specified equations".
