Yiming Qian PhD student	Light Transport Acquisition and 3D Reconstruction in the Presence of Light Refraction, Fall, 2018. He is currently a PDF at SFU. From July 1,2021 - June 30, 2022, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Manitoba. Since July 1, 2022, he is with Amazon in Vancouver, BC.
Qing Cai Visiting PhD student	Visiting PhD student (Oct. 2017-May, 2018). He graduated with his PhD at the Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, China in March, 2019. His PhD thesis's title is "Research on Image Segmentation and Object Tracking Algorithm Based on Level Set Theory." He is currently Lecturer at Yantai University in Shandong, China. Since 2022, he is Associate Professor at Ocean University of China.

G.M. Mashrur E. Elahi MSc student	Gradient Based Novel Texture Feature Extraction Methods for Texture Classification, MSc, August, 2016. Since September, 2016, Mashrur is working towards his PhD in the area of human motion analysis.
Yu Xia visiting PhD student	Visiting PhD student from Sept, 2015 - Aug. 2016. He completed his PhD thesis, titled "Research on Colorization of Night Vision Image for Advance Driver Asistance Systems," on June 2019 and started working with Huawei in the HangZhou Research Center in computer vision related research on July 2019.

Xida Chen Ph.D. Student	Structured Light Methods: From Land to Undersea, Ph.D. thesis, Fall, 2015. Since September, 2015, Xida is with Google in Waterloo, Canada.
Jia Lin Visiting PhD student	Jia Lin, visiting PhD student from 2013-2015. He finished his PhD in June, 2017 in Beijing University of Technology, and since then, he has been with the Insitute of the China Electronic Technology Group Corporation which has more than 1300 members in charge of the Machine Vision and Artificial Intelligence Lab of the Institute.
Xiaoqiang Zhang Visiting PhD student	Xiaoqiang Zhang, visiting PhD student from the Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an, China, from 2013-2015. He is currently finishing his PhD in Synthetic Aperture Imaging.
Rouzbeh Maani Ph.D. Student	Robust Texture Features with Applications in Medical Imaging, Ph.D., winter, 2015. Received the Faculty of Science PhD Dissertation Award! Since 2014, Rouzbeh is Research Software Developer with the Sunnybrook Research Institute. He joined Epson Canada in May 2015 as a researcher in the Dept EDGE.
Timothy Yau M.Sc. student	Dispersion of Light in Underwater Camera Calibration and 3D Reconstruction, M.Sc., Fall, 2013. Received the Dept of Computing Science Outstanding MSc Thesis Award! Click here for his picture at CVPR 2013. 3D video of the sponge. Since July, 2013, Timothy is with Serious Labs in Edmonton. Currently, he is working in a high tech company in San Francisco.
Samaneh Eskandari M.Sc. student	Shadow Removal for Action Recognition in a Smart Condo Environment, MSc., Winter, 2013. She is currently with Visier, a HR data analytics company in Vancouver as a software developer.
Ding Liu M.Sc. student	3D Reconstruction of Transparent and Specular Objects, MSc thesis, , Fall, 2013. Since Dec, 2013, Ding is with CGGVertas in Calgary. She was with Aimsio, in Calgary as a software developer. Then in Sept, 2018, she joined Zenefits, Vancouver as a software engineer. Since Feb, 2021, she is a software engineer with Uber, Seattle.

Zhao Pei Visiting PhD student	Visiting PhD student (2010-2011).Synthetic Aperture Imaging Using Camera Array, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Jan. 2013. Since September, 2013, he is lecturer in the School of Computer Science, Shaanxi Normal University, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. From October, 2017-September 2018, Zhao is doing his sabbatical with us.
Jason Gedge M.Sc. student	Underwater Stereo Matching and its Calibration, M.Sc. thesis, Fall, 2011. Since 2013, he holds the position of software engineer with youtube.
Omar Rodriguez-Arenas M.Sc.	Physically-Based Baking Animation Using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics for Non-Newtonian Fluids, M.Sc. thesis, December, 2010. He is currently an Independent Computer Software Developer working on projects at the University of Alberta.
Yufeng (Allen) Shen	Single Complex Image Matting, M.Sc. thesis, 2010. Since April 2010, Allen is with Waterfront International Ltd. in Toronto as research programmer. He joined Google as Software Engineer in Kitchener, ON in April, 2011.
Xida Chen M.Sc.	Robust background estimation with GPU Speed Up, M.Sc., thesis, Aug. 31, 2009. Xida is currently a PhD student in the group.
Cheng Lei Ph.D.	A cluster based free viewpoint video system using region-tree based scene reconstruction, Ph.D. thesis, Aug. 27, 2009. Since November, 2010, Cheng is with Microsoft, Redmond, WA.
Daniel Neilson Ph.D.	A Study of Match Cost Functions and Colour Use in Global Stereopsis, Ph.D. thesis, June 23, 2009. Since November, 2010, Daniel is Software Specialist - Academic Program Support with the Dept of Computer Science, University of Saskatchewan. Since 2012, he is with IBM Toronto.
Yilei Zhang M.Sc.	Towards Real-Time Adaptive Support Weight Driven Local Stereo Algorithms, M.Sc. thesis, October, 2008. Since 2009, Yilei has been with TRLabs, Edmonton. In 2011, he is Software Development Engineer at Amazon.com in Seattle.
Gopinath Sankar M.Sc.	Feature based classification of Computer Graphics and Real images, M.Sc. thesis, October, 2008. Gopinath is now working with Microsoft, Redmond, WA as a software engineer.
Jason Selzer M.Sc.	Desktop Image-based Rendering, M.Sc. thesis, November, 2006. Jason has been with Matrikon, Edmonton since Jan, 2007. In March, 2008, he is with 3D Interactive, now called, Serious Labs, Edmonton working in physically realistic simulation and computer graphics.
Danielle Sauer M.Sc.	Music-Driven Character Animation, M.Sc. thesis, October, 2006. Danielle was with CodeBaby, Edmonton from Feb. 2007 to Dec. 2008. Since Jan 2009, she is with 3D Interactive, now called, Serious Labs, Edmonton working in character animation. She is currently Development Director at 3DI.
Hai Mao Ph.D.	Physical-Based Non-Newtonian Fluid Animation Using SPH, Ph.D. thesis, September, 2006. Hai has been with EA, Vancouver, since September, 2006. His paper titled "Particle-based immiscible fluid-fluid collision; won the Michael A.J. Sweeney Best Student Paper Award at GI 2006.
Xuejie Qin M.Sc. (2000), Ph.D.	Texture Analysis/Synthesis Using Gray Level Aura Matrices, Ph.D. thesis, August, 2006. He is currently teaching at Grant MacEwan, Edmonton and is doing a part time PDF with our group. Since September, 2008, he has moved to Toronto.
Nathan Funk M.Sc.	Using a Raster Display Device for Controlled Illumination, Sept, 2005. Nathan is currently in Edmonton running his own business. From September, 2008 to October 2010, he was with GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, Edmonton. Since Oct. 2010, he has been with 3DI, now called, Serious Labs, and is currently Simulation Director.
Jiayuan Zhu M.Sc.	Frequency-based Environment Matting, August, 2004. Jiayuan worked with S3 in China. Since March, 2006, he is with Ageia working with the next generation of graphics hardware. Ageia is now PhysX, which is part of NVidia. He is currently senior developer of game physics at NVIDIA. Since December, 2012, he is manager in charge of promoting PhysX technology to Chinese game developers. He is promoted to Senior Manager in December, 2015.
Tong Guan M.Sc.	Motion Similarity Analysis and Evaluation of Motion Capture Data, Aug. 2004. She has moved to the US in August, 2005.
Yi Xu M.Sc.	Hardware-Accelerated Image-based Rendering with Depth Information, July, 2004. Yi was a Ph.D. student in the CS Department at Purdue University. Since May, 2010, Yi is with the Visualization and Computer Vision Lab at GE Global Research as a research scientist
Minglun Gong Ph.D.	The Rayset and Its Applications to Static and Dynamic Image Synthesis, Aug. 2003. Minglun is currently Professor and Head in the CS Department at Memorial University of Newfoundland and an Adjunct Professor in the Dept of Computing Science at the University of Alberta.
Li Liu M.Sc. (Course-based)	A review of NURBS modeling techniques in computer graphics, CMPUT 701 Essay, Aug. 2003.
Haihua Lu M.Sc. (Course-based)	Collision detection for computer animation - A survey, CMPUT 701 Essay, April, 2003. Currently, Haihua is a senior programmer at SoilVision Systems Ltd. in Saskatoon.
Qingde Yang M.Sc.	Panoramic image mosaic using continuous wavelets, M.Sc., Fall, 2002. Qingde is currently working in the Math Dept., University of Saskatchewan.
Jianwei Song M.Sc.	Modeling with variable coefficent superquadrics, M.Sc., Fall, 2002. Jianwei is currently working at IBM, Toronto.
Olugbenga Ayinde M.Sc.	Face Detection and Recognition, M.Sc., Aug. 2000. Gbenga was working with SMART Technologies in Calgary until 2005. Since then, he has been with Fekete Associates Inc.
Jie Shen M.Sc., Ph.D.	Collision Response Analysis and Fracture Simulation of Deformable Objects for Computer Graphics, Ph.D. August, 2000. Jie worked in California briefly. Starting Jan. 1, 2002, he has been with the Dept. of Computer and Information Science, University of Michigan, Dearborn, and is currently Associate Professor.
Yufei Zhang M.Sc.	Illuminant Determination and Its Application, M.Sc. April, 2000. Since May, 2000, Yufei is working with BMC in California. In late 2000, he joins Shutterfly in San Francisco. He was with Trident Microsystems in California until Feb 2006. Since Feb. 16, 2006, he is with NVIDIA as 3D Graphics Architect.
David Harrington M.Sc.	Physically Based Fog and Cloud Modeling for Computer Graphics, M.Sc. Spring, 2000. Since May, 2000, David is Senior Engineer at Motorola in Chicago.
Byron Bashforth M.Sc.	Physics-Based Explosion Modelling for Computer Graphics, M.Sc., December, 1998. Since June 1999, Byron has been working with Pixar as a Technical Director at Pixar in California.
Bernie Genswein M.Sc.	Recognition of Complex two-dimensional shapes using geometric primitives and the Hough transform, M.Sc., February, 1998. Since January, 1998, Bernie is with JRC Canada, Inc. in Lethbridge. JRC manufactures wireless communication equipment. He is currently working in the Lethbridge Research Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
Tanya Grigorishin (now Tanya Colwell) M.Sc.	Image Segmentation, Form Segmentation, Image Skeletonization: A Unified Electrostatic Field Theory-Based Approach, M.Sc., July, 1997. Since October 1997, she has been with CGGVeritas in Calgary and is currently a senior applications programmer. CGGVeritas is a company specializing in seismic data analysis.
Li Zhao M.Sc.	A Study of Occlusion, Multi-Scale Methods and Illumination Effects in PCA-Based Vision Systems, M.Sc. 1997. He was a Ph.D. student in the Dept. of Cognitive Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, CA and obtained his Ph.D. in 2000.
Russ Muzzolini M.Sc., Ph.D.	A Volumetric Approach to Segmentation and Texture Characterisation of Ultrasound Images, M.Sc., 1991, Ph.D., Fall 1996. From November 1996 to September 1999, Russ was with SGI. In Jan 2000, he joined Shutterfly in San Francisco and served as Vice President of Engineering from Jan 2010-July 2013. From Jan. 2014 to April 2017, he was CTO at Spire Global, a satellite-powered data company. Since Jun 2017, he is CTO with YourMechanic in San Francisco.
David Mould M.Sc.	Water Modeling for Computer Graphics, M.Sc., 1996. After he finished his Ph.D. in 2002 at the University of Toronto, he had been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science, University of Saskatchewan. Since July, 2008, he is Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science at Carlton University in Ottawa.
Nan Weng M.Sc.	Recovery of Three Dimensional Models from Sequences of Ultrasound Images, M. Sc., April 1996. Nancy, as she is commonly called, worked for Agriculture Canada from May to September, 1996. Since September 1996, Nancy is with Mitra, a medical imaging company in Waterloo, Canada.
Sanjay Bakshi M.Sc.	Shape from Shading from Non-Lambertian Surfaces, M.Sc., 1994. Sanjay is a senior software developer at Alias\|Wavefront. His work is in the area of computer graphics and animator. Since September 21, 1996, he has become a happily married man. Congratulations! He worked at RealViz in France for a couple of years. Starting April, 2002, he has been working with Pixar as Character Supervisor TS3.
Gamal Abdel-Hamid	Ph.D. student (Passed away tragically on Dec. 4, 1994).
Zhanhong Wu M.Sc.	An Experimental Investigation in the Use of Robust Statistics in Edge Detection, M.Sc., 1993. Jackie, as she is commonly known in the Department, was a senior software engineer at NetManage from 1993-1996. In September, 1996, she has become a proud mother of a lovely baby girl. Since November, 1996, she is with Infoseek as a senior software engineer. Her work is in network software development.
Jianqing Liu M.Sc.	Multiresolution Colour Image Segmentation, M.Sc., 1993. Jennifer, as she is commonly known in the Department, was with Maxsoft-Ocron in Fremont, CA. in the area of character recognition. Since September 1996, she is with Cornerstone Imaging in San Jose, CA as a senior software engineer.
Maylor Leung M.Sc., Ph.D.	First Sight: Towards a System in Human Body Motion Recognition and Understanding, Ph.D. 1992 (M.Sc. 1985). Maylor was Assoc. Professor in the Division of Computer Technology at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His recent research interest includes character recognition and human motion analysis. Since April, 2011, he is Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Faulty of Information and Communication Technology, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia.
Omar Vega M.Sc.	Default Shape Theory: With Applications to the Recovery of Shape and Light Source from Shading<, M.Sc., 1991. Omar is working with Plataforma S.A., a networking company, in Chile.
Glen Chen M.Sc.	Edge Detection by Regularized Cubic B-Spline Fitting, M.Sc., 1991. Glen is a successful entrepreneur, the general manager, and owner of Infowave Computer Inc. in Vancouver, B.C.
Warren Long M.Sc.	Log-tracker: An Integrated Approach to Human Body Motion Analysis, M.Sc., 1988. Warren is a software specialist in SED Systems in Saskatoon.
Doug Brockelbank M.Sc.	Computational Colour Stereopsis, M.Sc., 1988. Doug worked with the Alberta Research Council from 1989 till 1992. From 1992-1996, he was with Merak in Calgary. Since September, 1996, he is in China with his wife and two children.His current location is unknown.
Dave Callele M.Sc.	VIP-A Versatile Image Processor, M.Sc., 1987. Dave is currently a sessional with the Department. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science, University of Saskatchewan and is working towards his Ph.D. in the area of real-time computer graphics.
Jason Xu M.Sc.	Shape Analysis Via Orthogonal Polynomials<, M.Sc., 1987. Jason is working with IBM Canada. His current location is unknown.
Ron Koenderink M.Sc.	An Extension of the Rule-based Approach to Protocol Synthesis, M.Sc., 1985. Ron is working with International Road Dynamics in Saskatoon. Before that, he was with Develcon Electronics , also in Saskatoon.
