2016 Nat Rutter
Outstanding Technician Awards
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Now in its 20th year, the Nat Rutter Award offered by the University of Alberta Chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, honours technicians who have made exceptional contributions to the University of Alberta. Since 1997, this award has rcognized outstanding technicians from 13 different departments and six faculties across campus. The Award consists of a certificate and a modest cash prize to be presented at a dinner sponsored by the Chapter in the spring. Sigma Xi normally offers one award per year.
Eligibility: Full-time
departmental or Faculty technicians who work in a research or research support
area generally understood as science or engineering. To be eligible a technician must have worked for the
University of Alberta for at least five
years.
Criteria: Selection
will be based mainly upon the following criteria:

Quality
of work and knowledge of the position
·
Technical
scientific or engineering skills
·
Innovation
and initiative
·
Dedication
and loyalty to the institution
·
Rapport
with staff and students.
Nominations: A
candidate may be nominated by any full-time academic or technical staff member
at the U of A, by a Department through the Department Chair or by a Faculty
through the Dean.
Six copies of the nomination
documents are required and should include:
Nominations remain valid for 3 years and may be updated
for this year’s competition (i.e. nominations from 2014 and
2015 are
valid this year).
