Rubato DB
This research project is to develop a NewSQL system
that supports both ACID properties and scalability. The project is
based on the following two interesting ideas:
- A new database architecture based on the staged architecture for
software systems, and
- A new protocol for distributed concurrency control.
We have implemented a grid database management system, named RubatoDB,
and have conducted extensive experiments of RubatoDB which clearly show that RubatoDB is highly scalable with ACID under the TPC-C benchmark tests. Our experiments using the YCSB benchmark also demonstrate that the performance of RubatoDB is comparable with some popular big data systems based on the MapReduce framework that supports only the BASE properties.
