The above listing was produced using ReadIris 7.0 on a scanned image (a TIFF file) from research notebook #31 (2004-58-33) period May 1983 - October 1983 There were many errors in the extracted text file and these were corrected by hand by comparison with the scanned image (the *.tif file). From the above listing we assume that EXPERIMENTAL mode means maxtree = 600 (workspace of 600 positions per move), search width (MAX_WIDTH) of 19 moves and assumed search depth of up to 7-ply. Another game in which Awit thinks it is never behind. Indeed by move 38 it thinks that Black should resign. Only two of Black's moves were not searched at all, namely ( 9) ND4 #79 O127 and (10) H6 #79 O240 In both cases Black's move was in position 7, but a narrower width than that was used. Sometimes Black's move was thought to be quite poor, as in move 8 ( 8) BG4 179=E102 where Awit thinks the move is in position 17 of a 19-width search (179=E). Also in move 18 (18) QE7 189-M255 where Black's move is in position 18 (189-M). Then again, these placements could be attributed to alpha-beta cutoff effects. Outcome Awit 1 Patsoc 0, in Round 4 of the 4th World Computer Chess Championship, New York 22-25 October 1983.
