High Performance Computing

WestGrid

WestGrid is a Western Canada consortium to support high-performance computing. In Alberta, the participants are the Universities of Alberta, Calgary, and Lethbridge, and the Banff Centre. In British Columbia, the participants are the Universities of British Columbia and Simon Fraser, TRIUMF, and NewMIC. The hardware being acquired includes:

New hardware is coming soon to other WestGrid partners. See the WestGrid site for more details.

C3.ca

C3.ca is the Canadian Consortium for High Performance Computing. Access to high performance computing is a critical component to my research. WWestGrid (and C3) provides me and my colleagues with a cost-effective way to share expensive resources. Access to these facilities opens up new possibilities for my research, avenues that I would not even consider unless I had guaranteed access to extensive computational resources.
