A resident of Dalton, Georgia, Bob Cooper is a checkers grandmaster and retired chemistry teacher.

He received a BSc in Chemistry from Murray State University, an MSc in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky, and an EdD in Higher Education Administration from the University of Georgia.

He taught chemistry at Morehead State University for 3 years and then moved to Dalton College where he taught for 27 years.

Bob is 62 years old (1997) and lives with his wife Virginia. He has two daughters - Jennifer and Susan. Besides checkers, his interests include history, literature, travel, theater, movies, high quality restaurants, gardening, and bluegrass music.
