Q &A Page

Q1. The two applets can work on which operating system?
A1. The applets work on NT/Win98/Linux/Solaris. The IDA* Searching applet also works on Mac when you use IE5.0 or its above as your browser, it does not work on Mac when you use Netscape. The DecisionTree applet can not work on Mac because there is no Plug-In for Mac available yet.

Q2. What is the requirement for the browser?
A2The two applets require  IE5.0, Netscape 4.7 or higher version browsers. This is because old version browsers may not have enough JAVA support.

Q3.  How come I can not open the DecisionTree applet?
A3. The DecisionTree applet is in JAVA 1.2 and Swing. To open this applet, you should have JAVA Plug-In installed in your system. Unfortunately,  SUN has not published its Plug-In for Mac system, so this applet can not work on Mac boxes. For other users, please click here to download Plug-In.

Q4. I have problem in opening the IDA* applet, what could be the problem?
A4. There are several possibilities, please check these:

  • Are you using proper browser? this applet require IE5.0, Netscape 4.7 or higher.
  • For Windows 98/Netscape4.7 user, you can not download the applet files and open the applet from your local disc, as our applet is designed to open several files through http protocal.
  • For Mac user, the applet works for IE5.0, but not works on Netscape.
