I am a Professor and Researcher in the Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta. I specialize in Data Mining and Machine Learning.
To learn about my research interests you can visit my Research page or my Publication List.
In a nutshell, my research is about the discovery of patterns and regularities in large complex data, patterns that can become actionable in real applications. Therefore, I am particularly interested in applied Machine Learning but also Outlier detection,, Clustering, Contrast sets and other patterns.
Notably, I am working on Social Network Analysis, the analysis of large graphs of nodes and relationships, to discover meaningful structures, we call communities.
I have many projects related to precision health, but also in many other domains.
For teaching and administration roles I have, you can visit the respective pages in the menu above.
For media and organizers, a bibliographical Sketch (short and long) is available HERE with publically usable photos.
