PBSWeb isn't just a tool to ease the use of the PBS batch scheduler. Controling job submissions to high-performance machines in such a way naturally lends itself to the idea of meta-, or grid-, computing. Other projects, such as Globus and Legion, have sought to provide a meta-computing environment, but each has it's drawbacks. PBSWeb will provide an alternative to the other systems out there.

Look for the following in an upcoming PBSWeb release:

• Build across multiple machines to create a single program that can be run at any one of them.
• Submit a job to multiple machines and queues at the same time, the fastest of which will actually execute. The others will disappear without performing any work.
• Provide multiple command-line options for a job. The job will be run with each set of command-line options given until there are no more.
• Even more amazing features than the ones listed above.
