Image mosaic or image montage is an image made up of many other images. An image mosaic has its own visual content as a whole while each of its building images also has a meaningful content. Mosaicture is such an image mosaic generating system, which uses computers to build image mosaics automatically. An original image loaded into the system is firstly divided into many tiles; then for each tile, the system scans an image database and selects an image with the most similar colour content to the tile which is called the best matching image; finally the image mosaic is generated by replacing each tile with its best matching image
