When we first formed the Paradise League, I decided I wanted a team. I basically invited the world to join my team and was lucky enough to get some pretty good people. I expect that they were flocking to a captain who they thought was a great player. I'm not that great, I just have 10ms lag to Arctica.
The Official roster looked like this: Bob "the Hammor" Forsman <thoth@cis.ufl.edu> Captain Stephen "Ezrial" Ayers <ayerss@rpi.edu> John "The Punisher" Bartoszewski <johnb@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca> Dave "Warlord" Bullas <bullas@amisk.cs.ualberta.ca> Brandon "Lynx" Gillespie <brandon@cc.usu.edu> Tom "Jump Man Jr." Hansen <gt4908a@prism.gatech.edu> Adam "Wayward-Son" Harrison <eros@ee.pdx.edu> James "Wibble" Hawtin <J.W.Hawtin@lut.ac.uk> Kevin "Foo" Ho <ksh@charybdis.prl.ufl.edu> Timothy "Hagbard" Kordas <kordas@snowhite.eeap.cwru.edu> Dennis "SpaceGhost" Lee <deklee@mosaic.uncc.edu> Kevin "KL - 1" Li <kevinli@athena.mit.edu> Reece "bullseye" McConkey <mcconkey@esserv01.eng.utoledo.edu> Mike "Kaos" McGrath <mcgrath@maroon.tc.umn.edu> Allen "Bolo" Rout <asr@cis.ufl.edu> Jonathan "Ninja" Roy <roy@eckerd.edu> Hoa "Cadence" Ton-That <hoa@cwxtl.BIOC.CWRU.Edu>There were only 2 other teams: Future Business Majors (led by Bill Dyess, aka Thought) and Make Money Fast (led by hacking alumni Larry Denys aka a fungusamongus).
We played 3 games against FBM. We lost the first one and won the rematch and the tiebreaker. We only played one game against MMF, and their ogging shut us down, but it was a brutal game. Maxplanets was never reached and we lost 9-6. My excuse is that Larry recruited the top scummers from USU, and all I had was a bunch of cool dudes (some of whom were fab, and the rest were merely good).
Do not underestimate the value of a lagged teammate. Ninja helped us out many times as scout because he couldn't dogfight for shit with modem lag.
After the end of this very short season I considered performing an "art crime" by giving away THP T-shirts. The design was fairly violent (one guy holding bloody crossed hammers while standing over a guy who had his head bashed in) and only one or two people dug it. I guess my teammates weren't into JapAnime.
