The following position is a part of IBM Canada's EPIC (Employment Pathways to
Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. These outstanding entry-level IT, sales,
and corporate positions are limited to students registered in a Canadian
University or College co-op or internship program, who have completed a minimum
of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who will be returning to
full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM workterm.
The Globalization Centre of Competency is a team in the IBM Toronto Lab which
provides technical support, tools and education to IBM software developers
around the world. The intern works closely with team members to support
this mission so that developers can create software that supports the languages
and cultural conventions of a global marketplace. They work with the
local department of 8 people, but communicate with an extended team and IBM
developers around the world via email. Strong requirement to be able to
quickly learn and apply new technical skills. Looking for a responsible,
self-motivated person who can work effectively as a member of a team as well as
deliver work independently. Good communications and problem
solving.
The intern will be part of a small development team working on a project
to replace some of our existing mainframe tools to a new environment using
Java technologies. This work will include design, coding, testing and
documentation. They will also be responsible for maintaining and
executing various tools to create reusable globalization resources
for development, mainly written in C. They will maintain and enhance
our repositories of resources using Lotus Notes Application Development, which
will be learned on the job. Must have experience with Windows 2000 or XP
and Unix platforms, in addition to Java. Knowledge of OO programming,
relational database, GUI programming, HTML/XML, data structures and
operating systems. Experience with J2EE, JSPs, EJBs, and SQL is nice
to have.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Students applying to this posting must be registered in a co-op or internship
program for the length of the placement
- This position is intended for senior-level undergraduate students who will be
returning to full-time study upon completion of the internship/co-op term
