Post-Conference Workshops

Two post-conference workshops are planned for the afternoon of June 25, 2009, on University of Macau campus. The titles of the workshops are:

  • Recent Advances in Robotics and Control, and
  • Recent Advances in Mechatronics and Automation.

    Getting to the Workshop Site

    Transportation will be arranged from Dehan Hotel to the workshop site in Macau in the morning of June 25, and lunch will be provided before the workshops. After the workshops, ICIA 2009 will not provide transportation in Macau or back to Zhuhai. Please note that the Valid Exit-Entry Permit (EEP) to HK/Macao(港澳通行证) for PRC passport holders. If you hold another country's passport, please check with your local Macau Embassy or Consulate if you need a visa to enter Macau.

    Workshop I will be held at Auditorium STDM, International Library of University of Macau. Workshop II will be held at Auditorium II, International Library of University of Macau. Lunch will be provided in Library Cafe (Lord Stow's Bakery, 安德魯餅店), located on the 2nd Lower Ground Floor of the Library.

    Accommodation in Macau

    For those who would like to stay in Macau before or after the workshops, we recommend New Century Hotel (新世纪酒店), which is five minutes on foot to the university campus. The room booking at special ICIA rates is available from June 24 to June 29. For one double-bed room, the rates per night are ($1US = $7.75HK)):

    • HKD 430 (RMB 380) from Sunday to Thursday night (June 24, 25, 28, and 29),
    • HKD 530 (RMB 470) for Friday night (June 26),
    • HKD 730 (RMB 650) for Saturday night (June 27).

    Both Chinese Yuan(RMB) and Hong Kong Dollar(HKD) are acceptable. However, booking must be made before June 10, after which hotel rooms will be at higher rates if they are available at all. To book, please send the request to, Mr. Jingguo Wang, ya77403@umac.mo with (a) your paper ID, (b) full name (correct spelling) and (c) the dates of arrival and departure. The accommodation fees will be collected at the conference registration desk on June 22 and 23.

    Transportation out of Macau

    By Air:
    Macau Airport is located in Taipa, the same island with our university. You can go there by taxi.

    You can travel to Hong Kong International Airport via the direct ferry without even going through the customs in 45 minutes. You can check in your luggage before you board the ferry, and it will be transferied directly to your airplane at the HK Airport. You will be reimbursed HK$120 for your ferry ticket in the aiport after check-in and security check (still in the ferry terminal). The daily ferry runs from Macau to Hong Kong International Airport are: 08:15, 09:30, 10:30, 12:30, 13:45, 15:00, 16:45, and 20:15.

    To travel to Zhuhai Airport you can go back through Gongbei Border (拱北关闸) or Hengqin Border (横琴口岸). After you pass the customs, take the Zhuhai Airport Express to the airport.     To travel to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, you should go back through Gongbei Border (拱北关闸). After you pass the customs, take the Biayun Airport Express to the airport. It takes about three hours. You will find more information about Baiyun Airport Express provides line from Zhuhai Gongbei (拱北候机楼 (金叶酒店左侧)) to airport. The bus runs from 05:30 till 18:20, every 40 mins.     To travel to Shenzhen Airport, there are two ways to Shenzhen airport from Macau. (a) You can take the ferry directly and it takes about one hour. Macau --> Shenzhen Airport Fu Yong Ferry Terminal 12:15, 15:45, 19:00. Note that the 12:15 run is only available on Saturdays and Sundays. (b) You can go through Gongbei Border (拱北关闸) and then take a taxi to Zhuhai Jiuzhou Port (九洲港). There are express buses to Shenzhen Airport and it takes about two hours. The timetable is 07:45, 08:15, 09:15, 10:25, 11:00, 12:05, 13:15, 15:15, 16:45, 17:45. You can find more information in this website: http://www.zhjzg.com/toszia.asp

    By Ferry
    If you go back to Shenzhen or Hongkong, please consider the ferry and take the shuttle bus of New Century Hotel to Macau Ferry terminal (码头) directly. The useful website of Turbojet ferry is http://www.turbojet.com.hk/eng/home/index.asp (in English) or http://www.turbojet.com.hk/chi/home/index.asp (in Chinese). From Macau to Shekou, the ferry runs are at: 09:45, 10:15, 12:00, 13:15, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 20:00, 20:45. Ferry from Macau to Hong Kong departs every 15 minutes, from 07:00 to 23:59.

    By Bus
    After you go through Gongbei Border (拱北关闸), you will see a large bus station(信禾汽车站)beside the customs building. Then go can find the bus to your destination.

    By Train
    There is no train from Zhuhai and you can go to Guangzhou Railway Station (广州站) or Shenzhen Railway Station(深圳站)by bus after you go through Gongbei Border (拱北关闸).
