This was a marvelously complicated game, which will provide us with
 many lessons to learn from.

Claude made many wonderful comments during this game, some of which
I hope to include at a future date. For now, I will just provide
one or two of Mona's principle variations for each move.

The reader may notice that Mona did not reply with the equivalent
move played against Dave Dyer (1. c8-c6 h5-f7). This is because
the evaluation function breaks symettry, and treats the positions
 resulting from 1. c1-c3 and 1. c8-c6 differently.

The blockading style Mona employed in this game may not be the most
effective strategy against human opponents. A simple change to the
parameters can make the program play a more centrally oriented and
tactical style. However, we're happy to play into the strengths of
our worthy opponents, since our main objective is to learn as much
as possible from these games. Once Mona has an opening book to
refer to, she will choose randomly among all good moves.

 11 +35 h5-f7 d1-b3 h7-e7 b8-b5 h4-f2 b1-b4 h6:f8

A note on Mona's minimax scores:

There is a significant odd-even effect, so odd-ply values are likely
optimistic (at least 50 points too high, so +50 should be interpreted
as an equal position). A score of about +150 usually indicates a
small advantage, and +300 a clear advantage.

Mona indicates a mate threat with a +1000 bonus, so a score of +3150
indicates a small positional advantage and a triple threat to connect.
Only certain types of mate threats are detected statically, so there
could be more in a given position. Mona reserves 0 (zero) for a draw
 and +32000 for a win.

Claude had expected 14... a5-c7, and replied before reading the
announcement of mate. I want to thank him again for the fine game
 and his very instructive commentary.
